Cobh Ramblers Eyeing Promotion with Impressive First Half of 2025 Season

Cobh Ramblers are firmly in the hunt for promotion to the League of Ireland Premier Division, currently occupying the second spot in the First Division table. A stellar first half of the season has been marked by a potent attack, a steadfast defense, and a coveted piece of silverware.
The Ramblers have showcased their dominance in Munster, clinching their third Munster Senior Cup title in four years. Their journey to the final included a hard-fought victory over a resilient Kerry side and a notable 2-1 win against local rivals Cork City. The campaign culminated in a 2-0 victory over Rockmount to lift the trophy.
In the league, the Rams have been a force to be reckoned with. After 17 matches played, they have amassed an impressive 35 points, courtesy of 11 wins, 2 draws, and only 4 losses. This strong performance places them in a promising position for at least a promotion playoff spot should they maintain their current form.
The team’s attacking prowess has been a key highlight, with the back of the net being found 31 times. Defensively, they have been equally solid, conceding a mere 17 goals, resulting in a healthy goal difference of +14. A standout result at their home ground, St. Colman’s Park, was a resounding 5-0 triumph over Longford Town, which stands as the joint-biggest home win of the season so far in the division.
Individual brilliance has also been on full display. Striker Barry Coffey is currently the top goal scorer in the League of Ireland First Division with an impressive tally of 12 goals. In recognition of their outstanding performances, Coffey, along with fellow forward Cian Murphy and goalkeeper Timo Martin, were all named in the League of Ireland First Division Team of the Year for the first half of the season.
The Ramblers’ cup ambitions are also alive and well, with the draw for the FAI Cup pitting them against Bangor Celtic in their opening fixture.
With crucial upcoming fixtures that will undoubtedly shape our promotion destiny, the club’s management, players, and supporters are filled with optimism. The consistent and commanding performances to date have laid a strong foundation for a serious push for a return to the top flight of Irish football, and we thank you all for being a part of it!
